Physical Therapy at Home

Physical Therapy at Home By Dr. Spine

Now you can have a Physical Therapist visit your home for personal treatment of your aching joints, muscles and ligaments!

For many of us these days, the ability to move around or visit a medical centre can be severely restricted due to many reasons. Maybe you live in a neighbourhood that is locked down. Or perhaps you have a chronic health issue that prevents you from sitting or traveling.

Regardless of the issue, we are ready to help you get back to good health and reduce pain. Our expert physical therapists will provide hands-on treatment when your circumstances make leaving home difficult. Dr Spine is now ready to take your appointment for at home Physical Therapy services.

DR Spine Chiropractic Treatment

No matter what your goal, our well-trained therapists can help you achieve it by applying the best treatment and protocol for your condition. Below are some of the programs designed for your needs:

  • Post-Surgery Therapeutic Program.  We understand that there is a lot of pain post-surgery, and this problem, along with other symptoms, make it difficult to get back on your feet. Perhaps you had surgery to replace a hip, knee, or shoulder joint. Maybe you had repairs done to torn ligaments or muscles. No matter which kind of operation you experienced, Dr Spine has qualified and trained therapists to help you get relief. Our goal is to reduce pain and get you mobilised so you are stronger, better equipped for daily activities, and ready to move on to the next level of therapy.
  • Parkinson’s Therapy Program. Parkinson’s is a brain disorder that affects the ability of the body to move normally without trembling. The primary cause is not known, but we do know that when cells are destroyed in certain parts of the brain, this can cause rigid muscles, and balancing issues and “Intention tremors,” or trembling while trying to move. The condition is progressive and worsens over time. To best help patients with Parkinson’s disease, our therapists will do an evaluation and physical exam, then recommend certain types of rehabilitation such as natural therapy, cranial therapy, and/or lifestyle changes. Sometimes a combination of therapies will help you with walking, self-care and other activities of daily living.
  • Lymphedema Relief Program.  When lymph nodes in the body begin to swell, this means your body is reacting to some kind of slow poison, food or environmental allergies, bacterial infection or any kind of chronic disease process. Such inflammation leads to much pain and can often become debilitating. Our physical therapists are trained to use a variety of methods to give you relief. They will attempt to reduce the inflammation and pain, and increase blood and nerve circulation, thus providing a sound basis for further rehabilitative care.

How Does In-Home Physical Therapy Work?

Dr Spine therapists treat you at home the same way they would treat you at our clinic. The only difference is that you can stay at home! If you have not yet experienced Physical Therapy, here is a brief summary:

Physical Therapy (PT) is the treatment of soft tissue – primarily muscles and ligaments – to allow greater movement and flexibility and reduce pain. Most PTs accomplish this through the use of stretching, trigger point massage, heat, IFT, ultrasound, soft tissue manipulative therapy, and by recommending specific home exercises. In addition to increased range of motion and movement, our therapy programs can benefit you in many other ways such as:

  • Post-surgical care. Post surgery / Joint Surgery responds well to our in-home program. Your Dr Spine therapist checks your wounds, moderates and manages your medication, and evaluates your full range of home care needs. See a previous section for more details.
  • No Need to Travel. If you have difficulty getting to an outpatient therapy clinic without assistance, this is a huge bonus.
  • Sports-Related Injury Care. You are temporarily side-lined with a sports injury and need to prepare for a marathon, event or tournament.
  • Pain Reduction. You have pain and limited movement, and have so far lacked proper pain-management advice and care.
  • Improved confidence. We understand the trauma you may be going through pre- and post-surgery. Through our personalised Dr Spine Home Care programs, we have not only seen patients improve, but have noticed as well an improvement in their confidence to be more pain-free and active in their lives.
